Title: Community Connector.
Role: Full-Time, 12 Months fixed term contract.
Location: Favona, Auckland New Zealand.
Closing Date: 5:00 pm on 31st January 2022.
Hourly Rate: To be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.
Taulanga U is a Charitable Trust under the umbrella of the Free Church of Tonga and is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced full-time Community Connector to collaborate with our team to support the Covid-19 Protection Framework (CPF) that will replace the Alert level Framework. We are looking for a Community Connector to collaborate, support, and assist people who are self-isolating at the MIQ facility, at home or in the community.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Coordinate and facilitate access to services including referring people to appropriate agencies and making appointments with service providers
- Building a network with various service providers in the community and the government agencies to respond to people’s unique needs (including attending any network and development meetings to raise awareness of the service).
- Provide connections and direct support to individuals and Fanau to navigate and connect to the various services available while they are self-isolating and afterward.
- Supported the increase in demand and support for services for both immediate and longer-term psycho-social needs.
- Engage effectively with Pacific people in the communities, especially the Tongan people.
- Can deliver the immediate essential needs to people who are isolated at MIQ and home.
- Reporting to internal (Taulanga U Management) and external (a government agency) leadership.
- Great collaboration with other Pacific community centres and Pacific community members.
- A person who is sensitive and comfortable with others from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Networking, collaborating, and community outreach e.g., networking with local stakeholders, community members, local community centres, schools, etc.
SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
- Ability to assist people to access online services and filling out government forms and applications.
- Ability to provide an effective welfare response e.g., food, for any person who has to self-isolate at home or in the community
- Able to teamwork and support other staff collaboratively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Communicate fluently both in Tongan and English is necessary
- Proven management skills
- Able to work unsupervised
- Able to initiate and problem solve
- Knowledge and experience collaborating with the Pacific community especially Tongan people as well as knowledge of/ connections to local Pacific organisations and services.
- Relevant work experience in a similar field is a bonus.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Evidence of working rights within New Zealand
- Police check
- A current valid Driver’s license
- Evidence of full covid vaccination pass.
